Hi! My name is Skylar Wares and I am a painter and printmaker. I draw inspiration from the natural world, creating a series of acrylic-based paintings depicting flowers and various botanical specimens. Color is a central part of my process. I often use high-contrast pairings, rhythmic patterns, and experimental techniques to reveal the relationship between my internal world and the beauty of nature. Flowers to me serve as a powerful nonverbal way to communicate feelings that are sometimes difficult to express with words. Like the body and mind, nature is often simple yet deeply intricate, and I like to explore both of those perspectives throughout my work.Painting provides me with a means to express myself in a way that words cannot. Focusing on the process of painting flowers provides me with the opportunity to explore who I am as an artist while honoring my mental health journey and developing my art into a shared experience of discovery. I believe that the power of art lies in its ability to remain an open conversation. My works do not demand a single narrative; instead, they serve as open-ended environments for the viewer's own perspective.
